         After receiving the 3D model of the component and holding a DFM(Design For Manufacturing) meeting, we concluded that there was a high potential for a sink mark, warpage, and excessive cycle time for the molding process. This was due to the excess wall thickness between the 2 collectors. To eliminate the sink mark and improve the cycle time of the part, we submitted a design change proposal, which suggested adding a recess on the opposite side of the part to reduce the section thickness. The customer approved the change and the result was a flat part without any sink marks and a lower cost due to shortened cycle time.
